It has been around two months since the lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic. Except for healthcare workers, police, or government officials, almost everyone else is sitting at home. Many people are working from home, students taking online classes, but most still are sitting idle. Here are some tips to be fruitful during the lockdown
Learn a Language
Remember a movie night when you were watching a movie and an actor spoke a phrase of the French language? You thought how attractive and stimulating it sounded. You desired that you had time to learn it. Now is the time to make that wish true.
You can find countless YouTube video lessons, a bunch of mobile apps, and a wide range of online courses for learning a new language. So, get learning and have a new language in your basket to show it off after the lockdown to your colleagues and friends.
Get Healthy
Start eating healthy, exercise, and get fit. It may sound a bit dumbfounding, but you can do all this while sitting at home. Now is your chance of executing a diet plan that you always wanted to pursuit.
Sitting all day long on the sofa with no physical activity will never supplement your diet plan. To support your healthy eating, you need to get exercising. With gyms being closed, you would wonder how you are going to exercise. Bring home a treadmill or a bicycle machine and get sweating off.
Focus on Writing
I have seen many people in my life complain that they want to enhance their writing skills but never get time off their busy schedules. Writing, nonetheless, can be an intricate task at first but an intriguing one once you break through the initial endeavor.
It is never too late to do something. If you want to write a novel, start your blog, or draft a proposal, you have all the time by your side these days. So why are you still waiting? Get writing and pen your thoughts.
Read a Book
Books are informative and impart many skills to you. It is a very famous saying that “Books are your best friends.” Make a new friend, a loyal friend, while you are in self-quarantine.
Pick a book of any genre you want and start reading. Be it some fiction, a history book, or any of any sort; it will only add to your knowledge.
Lear a New Skill
Want to decorate your CV with a new enchanting skill? You have all the time in the world nowadays to achieve it. You can learn how to Photoshop, how to write a compelling literature review, or how to use Word press easily these days in contrast to the regular days.
Not having much on your plate in lockdown is an opportunity to enhance your talents. A vast number of websites like Udemy, Coursera, edX, etc. provide you with abundant courses from which you can choose. On top of everything, most of the courses are free of cost.
So choose yourself a course and come out of lockdown equipped with new skills.
Bottom Line
Having said all of the above, do not stress too much if you are not productive. It is okay to relax sometimes and do nothing. You spent countless hours working day and night, never had much time to spend some quality time with your family and friends. Do it now. Use this time as a break to re-start your life. Take time out for yourself, focus on self-care and grooming.
Make this period worth it while. A mental health activist Fay Lin recently said on her social account “It is ok to struggle with productivity, mourn the experiences that were canceled due to social distancing, and feel anxious about the uncertainty.”
